All the best!

Bain & Company I have a second round with Bain & Company coming up at the DC office for Experienced Consultant role. Excited, but hella nervous. Recruiter said it’d be 3 separate interviews, all with Partners; 2 case, 1 fit. About 40 mins each. First round was 2 case interviews with Sr. manager & Associate Partner. Been a rough year, so definitely looking forward to this opportunity. I’ve been on the site and going through preparation and materials. Any advice or suggestions welcomed!

Unprofessional. I love animals, like most people, which is exactly why they are a problem. They are incredibly distracting and letting them be disruptive shows a lack of respect IMO. Just like I wouldn't want someone's kid constantly interrupting a meeting or interview.
I agree w the kid thing. Animals are always welcome.

I don't know that you've completely ruined your chances but I do think that you could take this as a learning opportunity.
In an interview, you are trying to convince and prove to the interviewer that YOU are the BEST candidate for the position. Not locking up your cat could be “perceived“ that you are not a responsible, considerate, or respectful person. Interviewers look for more than just skills.
If there was an element of Remote Working in the vacancy, it would suggest that you couldn't be trusted to be productive and would spend most of the day playing with kitty :D I would have put the kitten on my lap out of sight of the interviewer
I can see how some say this was unprofessional, but it's a little kitten that you rescued. I have 3 Goldens, they can show out by hearing a tree frog leap from one tree to another and my 2 golden girls, they like yo bark when my phone rings, they probably would be a disaster on a zoom interview even if I placed them elsewhere in my home, it's way to hot for them to be outside. If your interviewer was annoyed, maybe an apology or maybe it's not the job for you. Many years ago I was trying to get out of a bad relationship, I had an interview on a Saturday morning and had to take my children, they were very young back then, not only did I get the job bc my kids did wonderful that day, I had called the interviewer I advance about bringing them. Be you, you will fa great job with better understanding employers and employees.
Unprofessional. Not in an interview. You only have 1 chance at a first impression, and it should be all about you. Especially in today's market where you need to "meet 125%" of the job's requirements. There are many other places in the interview where you can screw up. And other reasons beyond your control why you won't get the job. However, your pet is one factor that you can control. You can put your pet in another room for 30 min to an hour. They will live.
It's fine if it's with a coworker while you are actually doing the job.
When Teams first started being popular right when COVID started, it was common to see kids, pets, etc in the camera and everyone laughed it off. Now that COVID is over, the rules changed. No kids or pets, No hoodies, Must use background (esp in regulated businesses), NO EATING. If you don't follow this, it's not going to help you be seen as a serious employee. I am 100% remote and i follow all the rules, i have my pre-buttoned shirt on the side which i put on for meetings, cats are temporarily exiled and you pretend for the camera. No problem
Sorry, but I'm on the "unprofessional" team. One wouldn't bring the kitten to an in-person interview because you couldn't find a pet sitter. Treat your virtual interviews the same way.
