Unprofessional. I love animals, like most people, which is exactly why they are a problem. They are incredibly distracting and letting them be disruptive shows a lack of respect IMO. Just like I wouldn't want someone's kid constantly interrupting a meeting or interview.
I agree w the kid thing. Animals are always welcome.

I don't know that you've completely ruined your chances but I do think that you could take this as a learning opportunity.
I personally feel like as long as it was not disrupting the flow of the interview and conversation, it's understandable. You could have excused yourself to place the kitten back down or outside of the room, but I would take this as a sign that the manager may give you trouble day to day over this (if you are indeed reading the situation accurately). I'd rather work for a pet friendly company that understands you work at home, and naturally that means your pets are going to be nearby. It's not a big deal.
Do not suggest you have animals on screen. Look at this from the recruiter's viewpoint.
Oh for heaven's sake everyone. Since COVID everyone has been required to use their personal private space for professional activities - you know, that space that employers used to provide and now employees do at their own expense. Most people not on power trips understand that personal spaces sometimes come with cute fluffy critters who don't always get their tails out of our faces. Any company that doesn't like it can invite them in for an in-office interview.
Or just move on to the next applicant, unfortunately.
Sure, it's unprofessional. I guess you should have put the cat in another room, but lesson learned. I'm in the minority here, but it also tells me a lot about a potential employer that doesn't like animals or may not have a sense of humor. I sincerely wish you the best both with the job and the new kitten!
I would think it was adorbs and also par for the course in a WFH world. But since apparently not everyone agrees with me it can't hurt to keep them out next time. That said, I suspect at most it's one small mark in the "con" column, not enough to overcome more significant pros if you are otherwise a strong candidate.
“Any time your cat would appear (across your keyboard) during the interview??? If so, how many times did that actually happen? And meaning no shade, I LOVE animals, but NO, I wouldn’t hire you if I saw that in an interview.
If you’re allowing that during an interview are you also allowing that during business meetings, etc.? Depending on the company, it’s not professional. Keep the distractions at bay. All of them that can be helped. Pets are one of those.

you only make 1 first impression
I used to do early morning meetings with management every week day just to catch up, My VP had a bengal cat, super good looking in everyway, and a great pet, but after a few times it go annoying as when a question was asked he was paying attention to the cat.
Anyway, I doubt you fried yourself, it just depends on how often this happened to this guy? did you need questions repeated or anything.
Always remember, "when in doubt, keep it out.!"
If they are that much of an asshole, maybe you don't need to work for them anyway!!
I LOVE pets, but this is a big no-no. Everything has a place and time.
Maybe you don't need to show the cat, and not look it up,, no?
But' it's a normal l thing to raise a cat.
What if you have very active kid in the house?
During an interview it's best to eliminate as many distractions as possible so the interviewer knows they have your undivided attention. Although animals can be cute and funny when they bomb a zoom or teams meeting with colleagues - it's not when the meeting is a job interview.
Hey , I am Ariyadasa from srilanka,
How much chat are you need , because my phone has trouble, that time I tried to get same ad but not sauce's,
Thanks
I need a security guard job
While I do wish you the best and I love pets, it is unprofessional.
When setting up virtual interviews I will typically add verbiage to be in a quiet well-lit room.
We just moved and now I have a door on my office. It was very hard keeping my cats out before. I feel the same when people let their children interrupt. Sometimes it happens and can't be helped, but a no no on a regular basis.
I think it’s cute. My cats not only
Love interviews they love zoom classes and anything involving the cameras. They are super friendly and love the attention. They join my yoga Pilates classes and are fun to watch when they try to participate in the activity I’m doing
Don’t chance it…. he may be allergic to & concerned he would b allergic to u
If you wouldn't take a cat to an interview why would you not restrict your cat during an interview in your home.
