Like a portfolio review in reverse, creative leaders will share work they created when they first started out and critique it as if were a book that had just landed in their inbox. Then, tell us if they’d hire their younger selves knowing, and expecting, what they do now.

And some of us weren’t that desperate (enough for awkward zoom happy hours) before either! But hey, it still beats the mandatory 5:30 (or 6 or 7) actual meeting with “and why don’t we all do it over beer!”
100%. Also, no more forced team trivia nights where we all have to make a deck and no more “wear something crazy when you show up/today’s theme is hats!”
🙄
I don’t want to do them in person either. I have friends that I can go to happy hour with if I so choose. Being forced to spend even more time with coworkers is the opposite of happiness.
as someone who has like 2 irl friends & is FT remote, i love having opportunities to more casually hang w my team - but can rarely attend after-work socializing events bc i have stuff to do! giving employees the option without putting pressure on them to attend every time is def the way to go imo...
I’m with ya! Yes, I’m over screens, but I also have stuff to do! I think remote work has made spontaneous, virtual after-hour hangs more common. Yes, Debbie, I’d love to hang out later today, but I have to go get groceries/take my kid somewhere/walk the dog… please don’t get me fired.

For our get togethers we're doing in-person, during work hours, drinks on the company card.
Work is staying virtual.
Best of both worlds!

Not mandatory but it's a small team so it'd be awkward to skip it, that said I'm pretty approachable if anyone _really_ wants to skip the free drinks and do work instead

Eh I agree to a certain degree, but I actually enjoy it. I’ve never met any of my co-workers in person, so chatting over virtual lunch hangouts or happy hours is the only way I get to know them outside of work. I know it’s a bother for some, but it makes a difference for the remote hires.
Lol senior cw do you. Whatever makes you happy. If you like the zoom thing keep doing it with whoever wants to don’t let cw shame you into feeling like you have no life and are a bad creative bc you don’t share the same hobbies. Jesus Christ y’all *shaking my damn head*

You can go out and do real stuff now
Exactly. The issue is, most agencies are still remote, so they’re still pushing the virtual hangs.
Remember forced team building overnight trips? Those were the worst.
It used to make me really angry. To expect me to be ON socializing with y’all for 12 hours straight and not get any privacy after. Also there’s usually alcohol involved and I’ve had drunk hotel mates bringing in their buddies to the room. It’s inhumane.
