Wow. McKinsey, which has the biggest public sector presence of the MBB, really hasn't been doing too hot at all in the sector.
Its presence is tiny and it's gotten even smaller. Meanwhile it's bungling whatever opportunities it's getting.

There’s no right way of doing it I guess but here’s my experience.
Did a zoom shoot 2 months ago and overall went really well. However, client wasn’t happy with how colours showed on zoom at the start of the shoot. Had to send them screen grabs of what the director saw on set and reiterate how colours will be adjusted/ made more vibrant during colour grading phase (just like in any production). They approved, we moved ahead.
What really helped though is clarifying the shoot process beforehand with everyone (client, prod house, creative) as director is busy directing and prod house producer is busy on set so won’t constantly be behind the computer to go through zoom discussions.
So what we did (and pls bare in mind I didn’t have an agency producer to help me out):
- agreed with client that they’ll share their feedback with me and the creatives on zoom whilst the prod house is doing their thing on set. We discuss and agree on shortlist of feedback
- I’ll drop the shortlist of queries in the chat box + text the producer the shortlist as well
- director and producer come to the computer/zoom so we can take them through the shortlist of questions/flags again and they can confirm if all good or not. (If there where any big flags from the prod house, they’d call/text me before coming to camera/zoom)
Not sure if this was the most efficient way of doing it but it avoided us having a long list of personal opinions in the chat box and having to disagree/push back on client in front of everyone (I try to always protect their egos lol).
I also wanted to make sure that client realised that this is not an ideal way of doing shoots so when things go back to « normal » they don’t think « why pay for the agency to go to the shoot if we can do it via zoom or the prod house can do it without the agency ».
It’s easy to slack when on zoom and be busy responding to other clients/emails, but this is the time to show your agency’s involvement in the shoot process/ added value.
Utilize the breakout room feature. You and creatives can open another screen and talk with the line producer without client interference.
I’d also put a page in the Ppm book about remote shooting and how the day is going to flow. The line producer should explain how the feed is going to work etc.
