Just be yourself, be honest, if you don’t know an answer, tell them you’ll find the answer. And most importantly, make sure you appear passionate. The fire in someone’s eyes works like gravity.
That is pretty relieving. Love this reply. Thanks for being so honest and helpful. I’ll keep that in mind!
At this stage, they’ll want to make sure you have a good head on your shoulders, a decent albeit entry level sense of what the production world *is*, some taste, and would be pleasant to work with. Go get ‘em
What your skillsets are was a big leap for me. I was so used to being a jack of all trades that I never took time to sit down and write exactly what skills and program experience I had. It can help them clear a space for you in their heads and keep you in mind for projects that you're suited for or things you should take time to learn during the internship.
you should have side projects. whether it’s a short film you worked on, or a gopro skateboard edit you shot and edited yourself. i think anyone hiring you wants to see that you’re passionate about the craft enough to make something for nothing because you love it. because the truth is, making something for nothing is the most fun you’ll ever have in production. when you’re dealing with money and opinions, you’ll probably want to hang yourself or yell at everyone because they’re being dumb. also they should know that you won’t yell at people when they’re being dumb and that you’ll always have a cool head. tell them a story that showcases your leadership and level-headdedness.
