Hello!
I finished my final round(s) for a TAM position at Google (GCP) last week and was told by my recruiter that my feedback was great and that I made a solid impression on the team and am "firmly in the running". I was supposed to hear back this week (according to the recruiter) but he just told me that it's still in the process and that I'll have to wait for another week or so.
Is this common at Google ? I have heard they are notorious for being really slow with their hiring process.

You can definitely transfer to a financial reporting role. I would skip IA though if you can. I work at a big bank now so there's legit 100s of different options for former auditors.
You don't necessarily get one. But if you find the right org it's a possibility. People go from IA into the "business," which is to say the departments that they are auditing. Most large public companies have IA that is separate from SOX, or at least do a lot in addition to SOX. So this could be investor relations, commercial, business development, etc. but not guaranteed. All depends on the relationships you build and what you do while there. You could very well be stuck as a SOX monkey, if you find the wrong IA shop.
If it's a big enough company, probably not. You just can't stay in IA for more than a few years
But what would you exit to after those few years? Can you still transition to like assistant controller or something like that?
If you're at a big enough company I'd try to voice there and get into a rotation, learn other positions, then stay in them or leave after that
Anything in the business. FP&A, strategy, marketing. You kind of have to create your own path using your connections and people you meet doing IA.
Ok I just don't want to take a step backwards career path wise by accepting an internal audit role rather than staying public accounting 3 more years.
If you are aiming for financial reporting or something similar, you should stay in public. IA is a good way to have a shot at a career change, but not going to develop you to specialize in accounting/reporting.
Sorry if this is a stupid question.. but what kind of career change is there from internal audit?
Ok thanks. Yeah the company I'm looking at has a rotational program where after a few years you can transition to other roles. I have to find out what those roles can be. Thanks for your help.
