How do I pivot from a broker to any job in tech?
Microsoft is hiring an account executive and I’m really interested in the role. I have B2B sales experience in a different industry, but my skills include lead generation, prospecting, account management, negotiating, etc (all within the C Suite and other decision makers).
Would appreciate knowing if this is something I have a shot at with no tech sales experience and what I could expect for promotional opportunities and compensation.
Thanks for the help!
Need some advice here. I am a fullstack developer with 5 yoe in Angular and Python. My aim is to crack FAANG companies. Now I got an offer from HSBC in a credit risk model monitoring role using Python. It is close to a data engineer role.
My question is that will it be a good idea to shift from development role to a model monitoring role if I want to move to FAANG in the future?Or does FAANG not prefer people who are not in core development roles?Amazon Microsoft Google Adobe PwC EY Citi Barclays JPMorgan Chase

Guys , whoever is interviewing and planning to join , do ask project availablity on priority basis before you take decision. On Java front looks like there is some project issue due to recent slowdown in market. My offer was not revised even after agreement with recruiter because of this.

What will the project dynamics be on a project staffed with 3mdps, a PL, and myself, a summer UG intern? Just got staffed and will be hearing more on Monday from the team, but it came across as an interesting staffing composition.
Have the feeling I'll be making quite a few slides as the only junior. Anyone staffed on a similar case composition?
JPMorgan Chase recently introduced a policy change to increase the notice period to 60 days. I'm a 602 and resigned recently and yet my LWD is showing up as 30 days from now. Anyone recently resigned can confirm if they are facing the same or new policy is in effect. This is causing confusion with the next companies I'm interviewing with.

Currently on one as of end of the year, I had a few offers but am not the type of person to give up so I worked hard to improve on the points they mentioned. Got a good YE review from my team after they noticed significant improvement
Seen multiple come through them and be better. If they are used properly then they can be a tool. If you supervisor aren't will to work with you or you are unwilling to accept change then you should leave anyway
They tell you you're improving then they fire you
I think anyone on a PIP should quit. Otherwise everyone knows you as the person that wasn't good at their job (whether or not that's true).
And it doesn't really matter if you improve, if you're out on a formal plan it's to get you out not to help you improve
It's to get documentation to protect the firm from legal liability. If they have it documented that you're on a plan to improve your performance, it's very unlikely wrongful termination will hold up
PIPs are honestly not that common. At least, not as common as this app makes them out to be.
Performance improvement plan
Even if you make it through a pip you're going to be tarnished at your firm going forward.
Put
@PwC1 So you're suggesting anyone on PIP should quit because no matter what they are fired?
@OP Got a bad review recently. I doubt a PIP will come since this is my only job. Termination is in order!
OP yes, that's exactly what I'm suggesting
What is PIP
From my experience, putting someone on a pip is to make them leave. But does anyone know why? Why can't it be used for improvement purposes only?
It's basically the last step to get you out
Once you're on a PIP, it may not be possible to prove you're improving. People only see what they want to see. Plus, even if you're not fired directly because of the PIP, when they go rounding people up for layoffs, you're first on the list.
Echoing Deloitte 1: what is a PIP? Performance blank plan?
PwC 1, what if you improve according to all your points on the plan and that's in writing in your review and then they fire? Wouldn't you then have grounds for to sue for wrongful termination?
I'd check your contact though senior manager and above may have a case anything below it probably won't. Honestly depends how much of a stink you put up the firms don't want bad publicity so they make those files pretty solid.
