At PwC they are phasing out the MD role. In the past though it was only really used if someone wasn’t going to be a partner for other reasons (one prime example would be someone who joined the firm later in life and wouldn’t have enough years before partner retirement)

That was my impression as well. Thank you for the comment.

I don’t know that they are phasing out but in client service in Assurance they don’t make sense in the PCAOB realm. They are still being made support roles (Inspections, Chief Auditor Network, etc)

Agreed ☝🏻. Should have clarified to say that in Tax they are phasing out the role in the practice offices. To answer OPs question, no, most people don’t have the “MD or Partner” option

Is consulting as advertised when it comes to career acceleration? Personally, I am starting to doubt it. It feels like the skill sets are a bit dated and the world has moved on. Also, we get put on so many random engagements it’s hard to build tangible skills. I am talking big 4, MBB is a different game.

SOS!!!! I just got an offer for a customer consulting role for Financial Services at PwC but I felt that the interview process was too easy. It was 3 conversations on mostly behavioral questions when I was expecting for it to a bit deeper or to be given cases. Any PwC folks have similar experiences? Worried of the talent I’d be working with or if this is the kind of consulting that I want (similar to MBB)
