If I’m not super busy, I take a lot of these calls. Discussing your skills, experience and career goals articulately is a skill and one I’d like to keep somewhat sharp. That said, I generally won’t take it too far in terms of interviews and just reply that a career move isn’t right for me at this time but I’d like to stay in touch
Thank you! I sometimes wonder if I do that whether or not it would be frown upon if my team knows. I’m happy where I am, but want to be open and know more about what’s out there.
Always gauge you market worth, it’s not frowned upon.

What level are you?

I was happy at Slalom, but entertained an offer for West Monroe. I ended up making the switch a few years ago for pay and title bump.
Depending on what you’re looking for - West Monroe can be a solid firm. WLB is better at the lower levels / experience is highly dependent on your project and project team. There are some leaders and coworkers I would gladly follow through hell and back because they are truly amazing and embody a lot of the firm ideals. On the flip side - there are some folks who are not as People / Results focused. With any firm - your mileage may vary, but feel free to DM me.
Solid advice AP 1 - in addition depends if youre looking for a change ie work is not stimulating, more money / promotion, better culture. Otherwise these calls can be distracting from focusing on a singular vision and goal.

Agree on being open to new opps, but West Monroe is a lower tier firm. I’d stick it out for at least one promo cycle at Alix before looking to the exits.

I’d consider a firm like WMP with a few years of exp under your belt if you are looking for better WLB
but know that sometime I should be patience and not jumping around all the time. Appreciate the insight and advice from those who have been in the industry way longer than I am.
Describe why you like AlixPartners? If you won’t think you’ll get the same at WMP don’t switch.
Switch has never come to my mind. I have a few reach out from other firms like slalom, GS, Oracle recruiter, but never responded (not sure if I should say something). Not sure what is a good etiquette here. I recently wonder if it is beneficial for me to respond an communicate to those reach out.
I always take calls - won’t hurt you and I’ve been fairly honest with my MDs I talk to recruiters. This is just a job, not a marriage. You’re allowed to explore outside.
Make sense! Thank you for sharing :)
Thank you everyone for the insight! I ended up going through the interview and I did let the recruiter know my situation during our initial talk that I’m not planning on moving but would like to go through with the process. The result is I ended up with an offer that might make me want to leave. I’m still in daze at this. Does this happen often in and I wonder how does everyone deal with that? FYI, I did talk to a few senior and they told me it was a good offer and I should carefully think about it because my yearly increase wouldn’t be that much either in a few year.
AM, thank you pointing it out. I did discuss with my senior and performance partners about it. Pretty transparent about it. I’m still thinking as I really love where I’m at. I might talk to director for advice.
