Are there specific areas of knowledge listed in the job posting? My main interview with the hiring manager for my job focused on experience in those areas

I’d be prepared to discuss any complex accounting matters that you have owned (identification, research, resolution, documentation, consultation, collaboration with client, differing perspectives, etc). In addition, be prepared to discuss the accounting area that you are the strongest. As EY1 mentioned, ensure you have talking points for the areas mentioned in the JD.

Hello! Q on how to follow up w/ recruiter about a role. DM’d them about Founding Product Designer role, they “love my background” but looking for someone with actually 10 YOE (JD says 4+). It’s been a little over a mo. with role seemingly still open on their site.

I’ve since updated resume w/ + experience (isn’t close to 4 years tho) and exp is aligned. Looking at the rest of the JD and type of company, I know I can fill the role.

Best way to strategically reach back out?

Agency recruiters: do you participate in kick-off meetings with hiring managers?

My company thinks that’s not scalable for us to be in those calls. But I find it hard to speak enthusiastically about a job to candidates I interview when I never got to even hear the founders speaking about it themselves.

We have now agreed that I’ll get to see the recording of those calls. I’m not sure if that will suffice, though. Any thoughts on this?

I have a business case interview with Acumen/Salesforce for a Marketing BA role. I’ve never done a case interview before, but I’m wondering if it will be asking about best uses for Salesforce/marketing cloud in the scenario provided, or if it’s a typical case? The recruiter said it’ll be interactive and test problem solving.

First time poster here!

After spending 4 years as a mid-level ops manager, I tried to break into HR through talent acquisition. Now after 6 years in TA, I've had a hard time getting out of it. My goal was always to get into a more broad HRBP position, but I've since worked for smaller orgs without a solid HR career path. When I ask about my career goals, they keep telling me, "Soon!" Or "Maybe in 6 months!"

I'm testing SPHR in June. Any advice for securing the type of role I'm aiming for?

Idk how, but I got the offer. Still wondering if it’s real (it’s been 30mins since the phone call) because I thought I performed so poorly. I wouldn’t have passed myself. I hope the interviewers didn’t make a mistake (accidentally mixed up evals for another candidate, or the call was meant for another candidate w/ the same name). I do want to thank the Fishbowl community though. So many of you took the time to share your experiences and encourage me. I couldn’t have done this without you.

Has this happened to anyone? Where you go through the interview process - and they call you back saying you did great in the interview and that you'd be a great fit but the role has been filled. So they are going to pass you to other hiring managers and see if you'd be a good fit in the other teams? I'm so confused.

Have you ever given honest feedback to a company when leaving? For example the d&i initiatives leadership is taking has lead to joking about common racial stereotypes in office whenever an update is sent. I’m not used to those comments being said so freely for all to hear and fear they’d hire a minority (as part of those initiatives) in my place and subject them to that. I’m not sure what there is to gain but wanted to get other points of view.
