Realize Life Sciences isn’t for me and would rather seek generalist opps. Should I expect any difference in approach in applying to T2 firms vs B4 for lateral moves?

I interviewed for a role in compliance that I want. My core skills are great and exactly what they’re looking but I didn’t have the experience with knowing multiple states reg. They recruiter assured that it isn’t an automatic no, but it’s up to the hiring manager to decide to train on that. He did tell me they are interviewing other people and that they do have that experience but they may not have those core skills. What do y’all think? How could they not have the core skills?

Hiring managers: let’s say you are interviewing someone with a lot of relevant experience, but may not be totally on point. What’s going to sell you on that person? This is truly a vague question, but are you looking for honesty about what they have vs haven’t done? Can you tell when someone is trying to spin it? (Feel free to also include anything that turns the candidate to a hard no.)

I recently received another offer for a tiny startup consultanting firm as a machine learning consultant Tc115. Is it worth reneging my offer? I think I may do more ML work at the smaller firm but idk if I would have the same mentorship and also whether it’s worth giving up the big 4 brand

I have received an offer from ByteDance in Singapore. They are giving 107400 SGD as base pay, 26000 SGD as yearly bonus and 62000 SGD RSUs.

I would like to get opinion from all of you whether the offer from ByteDance is better than I have in Zalando considering high cost of living in Singapore.

Pro tip: Never give off the perception to your manager that you have a fun life outside of work. Make them feel sorry for you otherwise they’ll inadvertently resent you for taking PTO or anything that makes it seem like you’re have fun outside of work. Trust me. Carry on.
