Hello ZSers,
I have been shortlisted for AC role and my HR discussion is scheduled next week.
1. Need some insights on the maximum and minimum ctc (fixed and variable) that can be offered for 3 yoe (all relevant) . My current ctc is 7.2 (6.5 fixed) . Tech stack - Big data and AWS developer.
2. Is there any joining bonus. If yes , what should be the ask.
Any inputs will be very helpful for me to go with my expectations to the HR. Thanks!

This made me chuckle.

Hi fishes,
I am planning a switch so was going through some salary data for a software engineer. My ex-senior manager recommended me a website: Growceed.com which helped me a lot in getting clarification about a lot of things but I am in doubt whether the average salaries of software engineer mentioned on Growceed.com really that much in top MNC companies.

What l7 non/tech role gives 650 at amazon lol. Also 378 as l6 seems low at google despite role. And how’s a partner on h-1b. Nothing seems right 😂

That’s now how salary bands work at google. Plus nationality is a protected category so the OP can sue if that’s true.
Questions for this group:
1. Does Google do retention offers of this magnitude and for this level? Especially in the current cost cutting environment
2. If I were to test the waters on retention, is it best to go after visa transfer is approved or before? Knowing that visa transfer is an interesting nuance in my case and a lot can happen in 2 months
3. What is the timing of finalizing end of year bonuses in the new grad process. Have been burned couple of times on switching in other companies where my end of year bonus was slashed to almost zero as I was leaving anyway, to create more budget for ppl who stay. Don't want to do that and hence most likely not have any retention conversation till remuneration for this year is taken care of.
(Fingers crossed the Amazon offer does come. Have one round of final interviews still left so REALLY thinking ahead)
I don’t want to be the bearer of bad news…but 1.5 years asking about 650k is not going to get you any responses. Especially as an H1B.
I wish I had better notes for you, but the very idea is that amount at this stage of your life if likely beyond of the scope of the vast majority of people.
If it helps, the best analysis you can do right now is about the company that had the best long term outlook. I personally feel that Google is better positioned, but my perspective is hardly a gold standard.
If you want some definitive answers…what are you worried about?
Thank you for the only helpful answer on this thread
378 TC?

My tc is 420.69k 😇😇
I think you need to temper your expectations - unless you are in a revenue generating role - you are looking at a lateral move from Amazon. I do not expect you will get anywhere near 650k - that seems to the salaries that I hear for technical hires in high demand areas.
Stay with google, figure out your visa situation.
Either that - or what to see what amazon comes back with
Pro
For context, was offered less than 300k TC for an L7 non-tech role at Amazon.
Google only does retention bonuses for very high level employees (mostly in Eng). I’ve never seen it happen for non-Eng.
