Recently got a job offer, signed it and sent it to the indicated email. It’s been a week, and didn’t get any confirmation or anything like that, just a little worried since it’s my first job offer. I sent a follow up email to the recruiter, but no response either. Am I supposed to get anything back? This is a 2023 start date position if it matters. Thanks for any advice!

I will do that! I didn’t want to come off as pushy by emailing and calling, but it is a good idea to do so. Thank you for the advice!

I think it’s totally reasonable for you to follow-up just to confirm they received your acceptance. I think it’s weird not to hear anything, but I also don’t think it’s anything to worry about.

like

Pretty sure something similar happened to me when I got my first job out of undergrad. There was months and months of no contact and that was just the process. I’d reach out to confirm but also remain confident all is well.

That’s good to hear I’m not totally alone in this, thank you!

I am in a tech IC position. One of friends switched to FAANG by converting the profile to consultant profile. The friend who might have less tech knowledge than me is now in FAANG and earning more. If the end goal would be that the friend might one day be a product manager and me an engineering manager taking instructions from the same friend, isn't consultant profile an easier path to growth. I had been practising DSA for years and the competition is only ever growing.

Could you please suggest shall I continue with c++ or shall I go with other platforms. Since I am getting very low package.

Beginning to consider going in house (4th, corp) - I really haven’t thought about what I want, partly because I’m not sure what’s out there/attainable. Is it a bad idea to start by applying to a couple positions that interest me and seeing where that gets me? I’ll of course prep for the interviews but am afraid to burn potential bridges if I ultimately decline because I’m still figuring things out.

Has anyone here renegotiated their salary after a short time being in a role? I accepted a position and I like what I do but I realize that the workload requires a lot to see success and I feel a bit burned out already with my 40 hours/week and occasional extra 30 minutes to an hour a day.

I am stuck between putting in my time and showing my value and asking for an increase to validate doing so to avoid job hopping after a year or so.

From reading a number of books and listening to a number of podcasts about starting a business, one underlying factor they all share is to have deep passion for what you do. How do you know what your passion is? I mean I think a lot about golf but i don’t think that’s a passion. It’s my hobby. I think most people just know.
