I don’t know why but this made me LOL! 🤣😭
I have recently joined EY SaT group as senior consultant recently in Netherlands. I’m tripple masters in MS economics, MBA and MS business analytics. Have 4 YOE in different industries but no M&A experience specifically. Any ideas what company should be offering me? I’ll be working as expert on commercial due diligence, FDD and valuation teams and doing automation alongside. is it wise to demand higher salary or promotion soon after I have proven that I can work and do it better than most?EY
Why is it so empty here? No singles in NY?

Ageism laid bare. This is the sad reality of the business. Agency leaders who linger into their 60s, who have completely dismissed the value of their contemporaries to keep themselves afloat. Shame on you Mark Read.

Funny how when it comes to freelance - older experienced peeps are valued. Ageism is a real thing, but so is making too much money - which is the real problem. The holding companies are cutting budgets, or telling their agencies to run leaner. So who’s the first to go - those of us who have been around long enough to make a good salary. I love freelancing; no politics, no bureaucracy. I come in, do my job and leave. Plus making more $$$ in 1 month than what took me 2 months on staff isn’t bad either. Chin up, there is life after being on staff.
Yeah, I need to figure out that network and go that route.
If any consequence, I am a CEO who just turned 60 (!) and now on a (self chosen) sabbatical. You have to say damn the torpedoes and full steam ahead. Not everyone is Neanderthal, don’t be disheartened.
Great advice! Positive vibes, bring positive results. Full steam ahead for all of us😉
PS: You’re NOT too senior or old. I’m older than 45 and steadily freelancing. Agencies want freelancers who know what the hell they are doing!!! And that means years of experience.
Right on!
Become a freelance CD - drop the A pronto!
Exactly! If they won’t give you the title - give it to yourself.
That’s awful to hear. And strange how it varies by department. Like in production, most EP’s I know are in their 40s and 50s. So their experience is actually valued.
Further, I’ll honestly say I never even thought of a candidate’s age, nor did I consider it when hiring or having to make cuts. It’s all about talent and value. Any agency that thinks otherwise isn’t worth considering or getting down about. The best folks I worked with were older, and got the job done.
I’m so sorry
I am sorry. Be strong, be confident and go for it! I am sure you have a lot to offer and as others have said you will be recognized for your talent and expertise. 💪

Feeling the same. I was pretty “niche” in my position. They let me go. Had me offload everything to a junior Ops person. Then a month later that Ops person left for Wayfair. The spot I spent 14 years in is now vacant with nobody manning the ship. Super frustrating to see everything I’ve done just kicked to the side and under appreciated. Finding nibbles when I’m looking but I’m talking to people who don’t want to pay for the experience I have. It’s been rough. Especially with the silence of the holidays. Hopefully January is better.
