Recommendations for short but informative personal finance books? Looking to read one with my gf, to avoid me preaching about stuff

Simple path to wealth, millionaire next door

So you’re avoiding preaching to her about personal finance… by giving her a reading assignment?

My point is that this doesn’t sound like something she’s indicated she would enjoy or is interested in. This post comes off like you’re forcing her to read a book of your choosing in order to make her see how right you are about finances. There’s a huge difference between learning together and “Read this book so you can understand why I’m right, and I’ll read it with you.”

At a minimum you guys should be selecting the book together, or maybe even reading two: One of her choice, and one of yours.

Maybe find good documentaries to watch or YouTubers to follow

There’s also Ali abdaal who isn’t a personal finance YouTuber but has a good intro to investing video on YouTube

Told a friend of mine in tech I was considering moving to BCG. He asked me if I would have to move to Boston.

I followed up by asking what he thought the top consulting firms were. "I'd guess PwC and then McKinsey are the best. I've also heard of KPMG, Deloitte, and Bain, but I don't know much about them."

Just a reminder that outside our bubble no-one really cares about firm prestige etc.

Thoughts on Wealth Management as an industry? Offered a role to work under a senior FA and eventually take over the book (~$800M AUM and growing). It sounds great, but I am worried about the disruption this industry is facing with Robo advisors and other low cost, DIY options. I’d want to make sure the clients stay through the transition, and I don’t want to join a dying industry. Thoughts and advice?
