I'm going to say go with your gut on this one. This sounds fishy (no pun intended 🐟) to me.

like

Gaming industry is notoriously meat grinding. '. . . wouldn't put in the hours' probably means the last person actually required sleep.

like

Hours. Seems like a cool opportunity, but the team is all very junior (less than 2 years out of college) and feel like it could be a trap. Anyone had similar experience that can provide input?

like

Unless you hate your job I would advise against it. The person leaving because of 'hours' already sounds fishy. Plus you can make that in Consulting in a couple of years.

The game development industry in general gets away with paying shit money for long hours because people want to make awesome games so they put up with it. I guess in some ways that makes consulting experience directly relevant...

Last one of those I followed through on when the offer from HR came it was ~20k under the recruiters salary range and below what I said I'd ever bother leaving my job for. Long story short be smart and go with your gut here; granted it doesn't hurt to take interview.

I would give it a shot. You can always come back to consulting.

I moved cities and my company is giving me 12% decrease in my salary. My current salary is within my new cities range, and I am definitely not paid market rate to begin with…also for context I have always been a high performer, have many relevant certifications, and am involved with initiatives outside my billable work

I’m not interested in accepting a decrease this large. What happens if you don’t accept it? Do you see if they come back with something more reasonable or will they fire you?

Comp question: I’ve started recruiting for a few PE portco ops. It’s early in the process and one of the recruiters asked me about my expected comp. 1. Does anyone know what’s a reasonable reply? I have no idea what to ask for. Just under 4 YOE. Was thinking mid to high 100s. 2. Should I answer this question early on? Thank you!!! I read the other posts and comp reports but the numbers cited seemed a bit high.

Hey guys, I graduated with a petroleum engineering degree 2 years ago (currently working on my CFA) and am trying to jump into general management consulting. Any suggestions on which firms are generally more accepting of a different background? Thanks.

Advice for if a recruiter asks about comp expectations? This is before any interview.

They said 100k-200k base and 150-250k TC. I said 200k+ TC and 160k+ base, "depending on other potential opportunities", which is indeed my target.

Should I have gone higher than my target or does the "+" and additional note take care of potential issues? I also didn't want to rule myself out straight away, so I thought staying in the middle of the range would make sense.

Does anyone know if they recently changed their policy? 8 weeks seems super low for Accenture …
