I appreciate cold emails that are short, personalized, and show an understanding of my company’s needs. Mentioning a specific project or challenge we’re working on, and how your skills can solve that, catches my attention. for me, a major turnoff is when the email feels like it was sent to 50 people at once!
How would a candidate know what projects or challenges you're working on or need solving? Serious question :)
Keep it authentic and simple, + the link to your book and password (if applicable). Apply for the job too, and use the email to reiterate why you are a match in a few bullet points with specifics and any successful / comparable gigs. Especially freelance, remember that you are being hired for a specific task and timeframe. I personally encourage writers to write vs using LinkedIn templates or AI. If you use it as a jumping off point, make it your own - words and creativity are your chosen career. Good luck!
