For the outdoorsy:
Rent bikes at Bill Baggs state park and tour around the lighthouse
There are several excellent botanical gardens (Fairchild, Miami, etc.)
You can rent a boat or join a larger boat tour (some have specific themes like going to look at mansions others are just generic tour boats)
Walk around different neighborhoods
Indoor because it will be miserably hot:
Frost science center has an aquarium
Art galleries and immersive art experiences in wynwood area (can also stop by wynwood walls which is outside)
Shopping
Vizcaya museum & gardens
You can also get spa and day passes at a lot of resorts if the hotel you’re staying at doesn’t have the amenities you’re looking for
Food:
As someone who’s lived in cities with amazing food scenes I find a lot of places in Miami have mediocre food and are more focused on aesthetics for the gram - In general go for places that have been around awhile over newer concepts
Avoid the beachfront restaurants in Miami Beach all over priced tourist traps (go to Joes Stone Crab if in that area)
Little Havana has tons of places with live music that are great for dinner (we like Cafe La Trova)
Something a bit different in Coral Gables there’s an incredible Spanish restaurant in a converted gas station (el carajo)
Wynwood has a ton of really good places would advise eating in that area over Brickell (Zak the Baker - lines are horrific now that they’re nationally known, so go early)
I was going to say same thing, not sure Wynwood is great place for parents. But mentioned restaurants are nice and definitely suitable to bring parents. Pastis especially!
Walking around different areas to explore, going into little shops, a ton of restaurants.
My top recommendations are going to coconut grove and walking around the coco walk mall and the surrounding streets, Amal is my favorite restaurant there. Little Havana showcases the Cuban history in Miami, try a sandwich from Sanguich de Miami and Abuela Maria’s ice cream from Azucar, you can see domino park and pop into Ball & Chain for live music. Little Havana is also very close to Brickell so you explore that area too. Brickell City Centre is a big, open mall to walk around. Coral Gables / Miracle Mile is nice too to walk the street and some good restaurants, I’d recommend Maiz y Agave. Miami Beach is always a staple, spend a day on the beach and walk around Lincoln Road. Perez Art Museum is also nice for a different activity. There’s actually a million things to do other than go to clubs.
