Salary check please. Work in a small plaintiff class action litigation firm in a HCOL area specializing in antitrust and consumer protection. Strict 1800 billable hour requirement and my salary is 155k. However, I just found out I am being billed at $650/hour. Considering the conventional 1/3 method or there about, shouldn’t my salary be closer to $250-350k? Or my billable requirement should be closer to 1200? Am I crazy?

The 1/3 method is back of the napkin math and not always accurate. That said, I am being billed at 365 but make around 170k/year with a 1900 requirement.

How big is your firm? Is it plaintiff contingency?

You’re not being “billed out” at $650. That’s just an input into a lodestar calculation if your firm successfully settles a case and seeks court approval of a fee

Lol

Plaintiff contingency makes it more complicated. I would focus more on how much money youve secured for the firm

If focusing on recovery, rather than hourly rate, does the 1/3 rule still apply?

What’s your take on a job listing that states “From $xx,xxx”

The particular job I’m looking at has this on the listing and I’m curious as to what their budget actually is. Do I assume a range?

They’re seeking someone with 5-8 years experience. I have the latter (8 almost 9)

How would I approach this when asked without pricing myself out of the position? Especially if they’re not willing to be upfront (assuming here) how much they’d want to offer me in particular.

I've got a job offer from a small IT company. But before releasing the offer letter, they want me to accept a terms and conditions form which has this 10th point as shown in picture. It states failing to join them will result in paying 2 months of salary that's around 130000 rs.

Is it for real? If I get a better offer somewhere else ane don't join them, will I really have to pay this to them? Please help friends. What should I do?
