Palace
It's worth visiting the Palace just to see the garden court even if you don't stay there. It's really impressive!

Have only stayed at the Westin, and for the handful times that I’ve been there — it’s a great hotel in a prime location.

Palace... Toto toilets. Such an experience.
Rising Star
Out of those choices, Palace as long as the room is Junior Suite or above. The Junior Suite feels more like a regular room and the standard room at the Palace is nothing to write home about. Common areas at the hotel are gorgeous though.

Palace is gorgeous, but I also really like the Westin St. Francis. I’ve stayed at the latter a bunch for work.

I like the W
The W and I never like Ws , St Regis is also quite nice if you can swing it. The palace is just OK imo.
I feel like W hotels in the US aren’t as good as the W’s I’ve been in abroad. The San Francisco W fits this mold. Lobby and bar are great, room (unless upgraded) isn’t so great.
If you’re going soon, the bar at the W won’t be open anyway. Go to the Palace if tied to Marriott. Westin if you’ll be shopping in Union Square.
During COVID, I’d recommend heading over to Nob Hill for the Fairmont/Mark Hopkins hotels for incredible views of the city. Neither are Marriott properties though.
The Palace
The palace and the st Regis are choice. The ritz is also very nice and has a sweet little courtyard
Check out the Le meridian. Stayed there quite a lot for a project in FiDi

Le Meridian is cheap but feels like a time machine to the 80s. It’s where I stayed when I was booking last-minute and was despy. Also not the most exciting part of even FiDi.
...not bad tho. :)
Stayed at the palace for over a year - I love it! But my team hated it so most moved to more modern hotels or hotels with lounges. I’m a sucker for 19th century elegance - same reason I love the St Regis in NY.
