Rising Star
If you have no prior consulting experience it would be very difficult to join as an M. The learning curve is going to be high and you'll have more leeway as a senior consultant. One thing to note is that Ms in consulting actually do not have sales targets however they would be expected to lead parts of major captures and if you haven't done that before it's certainly going to be difficult. take the time at SC to learn that while you're expected to be still learning, vs being a manager who doesn't know how to do it.
SM2, i appreciate your input here… better to outperform as a high SC vs get PIPed as a new M

Strong SC and new M are more or less the same. Ms typically lead teams, owners on parts of engagement, participate actively in business development, act as coaches. SCs are typically leads on work products instead of teams.
Thanks, Deloitte 1
does M need to hire, manage, fire people? and does M have direct reports at Deloitte?
