Seattle vs. Los Angeles – L5 Amazon Offers

I’m deciding between two L5 Amazon offers: Seattle and a role in Los Angeles. Seattle seems better for long-term growth and no state income tax, but LA offers more flexibility and I have family nearby. Would love insight from anyone who’s worked in either location — especially on career growth, work-life balance, and team culture. Appreciate any advice!

Tough choice, but both paths have strong upsides. I’ve seen Seattle offer more face time with leadership and clearer growth paths. That said, proximity to family can really help with balance. Do you see yourself leaning more toward growth or personal support over the next few years?

As an experienced, SHRM certified HRBP , I would just like some feedback on your opinion of the differences in the roles between an HRBP an HR Manager besides the obvious that the manager should have direct reports. I am an HRBP and work in step with 3 HRM’s. They all 3 just got out of cycle raises of between 5-20% 😳 and I received nothing. I am quite aware of our HR code that salary is confidential but I was told about this. Would you be looking for other employment? Or stay?

Is there such things as FP&A positions in Big 4? If so, are there better times to make the change than others (I.e. at senior vs manager)? I’m currently in FP&A and looking to work at a Big 4, or another company that offers the ability to move abroad. My current company and many others I know about do not offer the mobility to do so until much later, which is not what I want. Thank you.

I'm the only employee with a background in finance in a tech startup growing at a 300%+ per year. But it's actually my first finance-related experience (interned and now part-time as I'm in my senior year of undergrad) and don't know really how to have an impact as my knowledge is "limited" and have no technical mentorship.

Any advice/mentorship would be wonderful!
