As an experienced, SHRM certified HRBP , I would just like some feedback on your opinion of the differences in the roles between an HRBP an HR Manager besides the obvious that the manager should have direct reports. I am an HRBP and work in step with 3 HRM’s. They all 3 just got out of cycle raises of between 5-20% 😳 and I received nothing. I am quite aware of our HR code that salary is confidential but I was told about this. Would you be looking for other employment? Or stay?

There's probably never going to be an "appropriate" time to ask them about it. You can still be professional while being stern. I'd say take a good, long breath and find the nerve to confront them. I sometimes tell people to write out what you're going to say before hand. I know it's helped me get over anxiety.

I would def start looking. In my opinion it never hurts to look and see what better opportunities are out there.

Have you inquired as to why you were overlooked? If there's no legitimate reason, I'd start looking elsewhere.

I have not inquired yet, waiting for the appropriate time. I will wait until I am in the mindset to address this with a professional demeanor. Right now I have so many emotions flooding into my head and I need to address this with my head clear and not my emotions or my heart.

In today’s market, companies should be doing their absolute best to keep employees happy.. give a raise now or pay a 20% fee plus and extra % in higher pay for the next person. You do the math(not you, but companies)

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

I strongly believe new hire onboarding should not sit in the HR/People Operations space but should sit in the HR Coordinator/HR Generalist space. As a new hire, they should be able to have a confirmed point of contact especially during their first 90 days and People Ops should not be that point of contact unless there’s system or access issues.
