What kind of marketing / tech company? Is it software or services? Is it well known? Is if VC funded? How big is the company? What location?
If it’s in a not well known company in MCOL/LCOL then it doesn’t seem unreasonably low.
It’s all compared to market…you’d probably be paid 400k+ in a high-tier company in a VHCOL
100M or 10M? 10M is <100k per employee, which would suggest you’re burning a ton of cash.
10M is a small business — your pay is fairly market for that size company even in LA area.
Most likely you are underpaid for that title and role scope, IF based in the US, AND total company revenue is over at least 500M. BUT, based on the time you’re posting, you may be in a lower paying labor market, and based on the fact that a director is a direct report to the CEO, you are probably at a small private company (and would expect to see equity comp). Since there’s no equity comp mentioned, also a sign you’re probably not US based. So you’re probably paid just fine.
Point is, you don’t give enough information to receive an appropriate answer.
Yes US based, but much smaller. I commented some more details above in other comments. I appreciate the feedback and would love to get your take on some of the info I shared.
For simple math, let's say 60 employees at $100k each eats up $6MM of how many millions in revenue? How much net profit are we talking about?
For frame of reference, as an IC, I am directly responsible for bringing in $10's of millions of dollars of high-margin revenue per year. I and others posting here work for companies with revenues in the 10's to 100's of billions of dollars, who make a good living, but still get paid only a fraction of what we drive for the company.
Your skills are undoubtedly worth more in the right environment, but I am not immediately hearing that you are in a situation where you are being underpaid.
Thanks for the insight. That does make sense. Given I have access to the P&L I also know they are doing their best but I am now at a place of looking for a jump to a larger company for better comp/career opportunities. Be that a $50MM, $100MM etc. From what I see, comp at that annual revenue and high for roles that carry my current responsibilities are paid more and in some cases, much more.
You’re doing fine. Next order of business would be to head to a larger company once you’re done with your MBA.
Thank you and my thoughts exactly with moving on after my MBA. Appreciate the insight.
What about equity?
Exactly 0%.
