Seeing the PwC layoffs shook me a bit. I’m not at a Big 4, but my finance team’s been eerily quiet lately...projects on hold, random meetings cancelled, budget talk ramping up. I don’t know if I’m just being paranoid, but it’s hard not to read the signs. Is it overkill to start updating my resume and networking already, or just smart career insurance? How are you all prepping if you think a layoff might be coming?

After submitting my resume for the Global Finance and Business Management full time position at JP Morgan (my dream job!), I got a HireVue invite the next day! However, I completed it 9 days ago and still have no response....
When do we get a response in average, and after how much time does it mean I probably am not getting an offer to continue?
Thanks!

It’s never a bad idea to be prepared. Quietly updating your resume, reconnecting with old contacts, and watching the market can give you peace of mind, even if nothing happens. Better to be ready than rushed.
It's a good idea to always be ready. There's a saying when you're waiting for a hurricane to arrive, hope for the best but prepare for the worst. That's good career advice too. Make sure your emergency fund is all it can be, have the resume and LinkedIn profile looking their best, and give a thought to networking.
Not going to lie I was a a bit shook as well but I think that goes to show you how the economy is right now. Its awful and it seems to only be getting worse. Layofs are happening everywhere and the job market is really rough right now. I think its a sobering reminder that any of us can be hit with layoffs.
