I’d worry about finding a position first - it’s not the best market right now and the search alone could take months or over a year. You can decide if it’s for you once you have specifics in hand.
If you are already worried you’ll miss litigation, you almost assuredly will. I took an in-house litigation role (so supervising outside counsel), and I still missed litigation enough to head back to a law firm.
There are litigation law firms that have a reasonable work-life balance, even some in AmLaw200. OR if you can become a rainmaker and find a great service partner to do the heavy lifting, you can give yourself a 9-5 schedule (most of the time, trial will always require more).
