Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

A bird in the hand...
This depends on sooo many variables. Starting with who you are and what you care about in life. Nobody knows your motivators and priorities and financial situation, etc etc, better than you. Put in two columns what each scenario gives you and what's important about each. Then sit on it for a few days, then look at it and go with your gut

Salary
Depends on how much you have control over the outcome. If it’s performance based that rests on your (assuming) capable hands then go after it. It’s a great way to make a mark and market your boldness in the futures. If it is more of a chance thing then take the firm salary.
