Hi Sharks, I am asked to sign the offer letter. It's kind of an agreement between me and the company for accepting the offer and compensation numbers. Of course It doesn't have statments like I have to join the company on signing this. My question is that 1. If I get a better offer can I go and ask them to revise the offer? 2. Can I decide not to join the company? Will there be any legal consequences? Have you ever been asked to sign the offer? Boeing Tata Consultancy Wipro Capgemini Cognizant

After submitting my resume for the Global Finance and Business Management full time position at JP Morgan (my dream job!), I got a HireVue invite the next day! However, I completed it 9 days ago and still have no response....
When do we get a response in average, and after how much time does it mean I probably am not getting an offer to continue?
Thanks!

Sales roles always pay better than technical roles. You say there is overlap, but I am willing to bet that overlap isn't in the areas that drive revenue, thus there being such a large disparity in compensation.
Even the very best A people won't make close to what B people make, you will make a fool of yourself if you go at it from that perspective. If you think you've got the chops to be a successful seller, update your resume and apply for the next B role that opens up. They are separate roles, both of which are needed. You don't get to just hop over to B because you want to get paid more. There has to be a position and territory to move into. The fact that you don't seem to understand this shows that you may not fully get the sales side of things yet, and you may not be ready to take on a quota. Ask your manager what the path to B looks like for you.
Thank you for the input!! Def don’t want to make a fool of myself. It’s a small enough team that I do do sales (successfully) in much the same way role B does. it’s just not my main responsibility as it is for B. Hence why I feel I could hop. (Also our director had previously asked me if I wanted to do B and I said no, not understanding at that time how significant of a pay gap there was)
Yes do it! Let us know how it goes.
One is technical sales support and the other is actual sales. Who receives credit for actual sales?
Get yourself into a sales role that gains credit formally and you can then have a more credible conversation about the value you bring and how that should be rewarded
I’ve been told that I receive credit for deals I played a part in closing… but maybe not to the extent I was assuming! Thank you for mentioning that
I would either like to get a larger raise (20%+) in order to bring my comp within range of role B colleagues, OR if bands for B are just higher, I want the chance to switch roles. Leadership constantly sings my praises and relies on me a lot so I have some leverage but not a ton in this job market. I know my colleagues’ comp because it’s publicly available info if you know where to look.
As part of my raise convo, should I bring up their comp and express that I find the comp gap unfair given how similar the roles are, or would that backfire? This would be of course *in addition to* the typical examples of my value to the team. Many thanks for any insights 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Complaining about unfairness is a bad approach. Instead. Focus on how you believe you contribute equal or more value and thus should get equal or more compensation.
Brining up someone else's compensation isn't going to help much if you're at a big company du to how strict bands work. Focus on how to switch roles. Be careful about the move part, because your current team/manager may write you off or mistreat you if they know you want to leave.
In this setting is there any different outlook on bringing up team comp?
