Hi, I'm leaving Citi in 2 months. It's hard to make this decision. I have an offer from a small startup. In citi, my previous experience was not considered and was reskilled to different tech which is the reason for change.I don't like to exit citi. As I like the company so much. But considering my current knowledge,I am in the middle of the sea.I am afraid now that the new company's offer would be revoked due to this recession?Or can I take back my resignation in citi before the last working day.Is this wise decision?

Austin
I've lived in Houston and Dallas and have visited Austin a lot. Austin is the most similar to the West coast, its a huge tech hub, but its a small city with way too many people, and its very expensive. Houston has an incredible amount of diversity and foods from all over the world, kinda boring, very humid and most jobs are focused on oil and gas and medicine. Dallas is also very diverse, theres lots to do, but its very segregated; it seems industry agnostic.
My good friends reluctantly moved from SF to Texas and are digging Dallas. Said it’s got a good amount of diversity, good food, good people. They miss the water and scenery of SF. Austin would be a close 2nd, just depends on what you do for work.

I've lived in nearly all of them. If you really want a WC vibe you should probably pick Austin. I guess San Antonio would be next, but really Austin is the only one that fits the bill.
As far as my personal rankings, it would probably go Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, then Houston.

Dallas and Austin have been developed to be so bland and gentrified that you could be brought there blindfolded and have a hard time guessing what generic American city you are in. San Antonio and Houston may not be exciting but they don’t pretend to be anything they’re not, and I like that quite a bit about both cities.
Don't come here, stay in California.
Nah PM1. We’re turning Texas blue
Austin has the vibe but it's no longer LCOL. Houston is the best balance of COL and culture/vibe, in my opinion
Agree that I don't love having to drive 10+ minutes to get everywhere - wish the city was more walkable and/or had better public transit
Austin is most similar to your description. Dallas is second, but I wouldn’t call it west coast. A lot of things to do in Dallas though. Houston is awful - I think the majority of people who like Houston grew up there so they’re used to it. Fort Worth is almost like country living. It’s a small town in a bigger city.
I agree, it definitely has probably one of the best food scenes in Texas. The traffic and humidity can be killer though and I know what you mean about the Texas bros lol.

Austin, Fort Worth, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio in that order. I prefer Fort Worth because it’s a “small” big city compared to the rest but Austin fits the best with the “west coast” vibe
If you like SF’s problems - Austin. If you don’t - San Antonio
