Slow speakers drive me nuts. Slow speakers with animation in their slides make me want to bang my head in the wall.

That's a lot of unnecessary stress...

like

I'm a "slow speaker" but it's because English is not my first language. It's not because of "slow thinking", as ATK2 puts it, its mostly bc I have to translate my thoughts from my native language to English.
When I'm doing presentations, not only am I thinking about the content of my presentation but also have to make sure the sentence structure, enunciations are correct. To all of you who get frustrated about this, be empathetic about us non-Americans.

About the animated slides... well that's just dumb

But......why? 🤔

Have never seen a slide with animation at a client. We all joke about how bad their decks are but that's a new low

Slow speakers, slow walkers, slow drivers... 😠

It all starts with slow thinking

@bcg1 it is like that

@pwc1 I empathize in those situations. And I'm sure you being aware of this do take necessary steps to keep people's attention

@PWC1 so maybe not slow thinking but double thinking in your case. I completely understand as English is not my first language either, but I can somehow manage to think in English while at work

I'm looking for advice from those who have freelanced remotely with an international agency.

I'm based in NYC and have had firms in Canada and England reach out about projects. The agencies have offices in the US but I would be working w/ their international teams (servicing US based clients). I've asked for my standard rate in USD converted to their currency.

Any advice on the best way to get paid? Have you asked to get paid by the US office instead? Any watch-outs for tax season?

TIA!

Hey all,

I’ve been working at Deloitte (federal) for 4 months now at the analyst level doing the typical analyst work, like building decks. The original company I wanted to work for had to rescind my offer back in March due to COVID. They’re hiring again and want me to join. It’s a boutique consulting firm, I’ll be apart of the cyber risk team. Which was what I originally wanted to do.

My questions are:
should I take the offer if the pay is the same?
Will Deloitte blacklist me?
