Small Business (no HR) question. I'm on an at-will contract and need to quit ASAP as my boss/business owner continuously verbally attacks and bullies me. I've tried to be patient for the last 6 months, but now I'm not feeling comfortable or safe. I know in CA you have to be laid off or good cause (like advice from doc) to get unemployment. Do I have to get sick leave first with a doctor's certificate before quitting or can I do it after I quit? TIA for the advice 🙏🏻

Am I the only person who has been super disgusted to Fishbowl’s response to the Meta layoffs? I’ve been laid off twice in my career but I’m not mad at 11000 people who no longer have jobs just cause they got decent severance while I got a week on my way out. Facebook is hot garbage but I’m pretty sure 0 out of the 11000 were making those decisions. So why are you upset about it? Urgh. Y’all are weird.

I do sales for a major engineering firm. Focused on new business and exploring new markets. Last year I was in the top 50% for order intake, and first in number of projects won along with number of new customers. I think this is extraordinary given the effort it takes to win new business.

For next year my goal increased by 2.5X, and less of what I bring in counts towards that target. I really enjoy my job but I will essentially be getting a large pay cut. Lost in what to do besides quit??
