A job at Google will provide so many benefits, now and down the road. There are other ways you might want to think about the role besides just comp. That being said, there are effective ways to negotiate for more. If i can help out, I'd be happy to but I'd need to understand more details. Feel free to reach out to me on LinkedIn if I can help: https://www.linkedin.com/in/alanjstein/
Thanks for the offer, but I'm already working with someone.
You’re in a great position. You’re willing to walk away, which means you can play hardball and mean it. No company Google’s size ever declined an offer because a candidate pitched themselves too high. Everyone involved understands it’s a negotiation. Aim high, accept somewhere in the middle. If they won’t come up, do walk away.
Thanks for the vote of confidence.
There’s no rule that says you have to take it.
Negotiate the hell out of equity and if you’re still not happy, pass kn it.
Why do you feel you have to accept?
So to be fair, I can still counter and hopefully end up higher than where I am now. I could also work on my MVP in the evenings and that would be hands on, including learning some new tech.
How off-base is it?

Also say that you are well positioned for a promotion. I would ask for 300k in equity and then be happy with around 240-250. Large signing bonuses seem to be a bit rare these days
Are you in the bay area? I would negotiate, you might get a better offer .
E1, this is sage advice. I'd prefer not to have to live in the infamous hacker houses on AirBnb in the South Bay, if that's still a thing.
Fwiw Google is known to lowball, hard. Friend of mine recently went through this, and had to negotiate hard to get fair market rate. Don’t accept that first offer.
Yeah I heard the same that they are really lowballing people lately. I'm glad I did my research first.
