I am moving to Charlotte, NC for a new job. I currently live in Portland, OR and have a single family home here. With my income, and current mortgage, I can afford a 350k house I’m Charlotte with about 10% down. What are the pros and cons of buying a new place in Charlotte and then sell my house in Portland?

I am trying to justify house buying in HCOL city. The house cost is minimum 1.4m .monthly mortgage would be at least 7k(with just around 2k principal) rest goes to either int,tax. Was just told to "grow our ESG/CSR" practice at a regional consulting firm, due to my recent grad certification in sustainable biz strategy. Wondering where I should focus us as a services industry for big impact: we have a large product innovation, digital engineering area, and know in the past we've had a lot of lip service to clients and only recorded ESG for their compliance.
