I have had several rounds of interviews for a role at Visa London office. When I reached out to the HR to check on progress/status after what they called the "final round", they said everything is positive and then set up another round with the hiring manager last week. TBH, that round seemed as if they want to make sure I have understood the job well. And there has been radio silence after that. Any idea how to read this? I have another offer and deliberating if i should just accept that.

Don’t say you were if you weren’t. Most of the time it’s the poorer performers who are laid off, as much as some on here like to believe there’s nothing negative about being laid off. I was once part of 50% of the non-partners at a firm being laid off. Even with a layoff that large, they still just laid off the bottom 50%.
Were you laid off? If you weren’t why would you say you were?
I don’t understand the motivation for the lie here other than to make yourself sound...better? And it’s still not a great better.
If you’re going to do it, I vote you just go nuts with it.
“Well, they actually promoted me twice and then realized I was too good for them so they laid me off.”

For any career transition and employment gaps in 2020, you can rightfully attributed to Covid. It is end of the story. Background check, toward the end of process as a writen offer is given, may show it and will not say why. However changing job ever year, without a solid reason, is problematic and a red flag. Anothe question that may raise. Why leaves Accenture so soon?
That’s a kind response to an obviously obnoxious answer ^

Make sure you stay 2 years plus at current gig, then it’s fine
Tell them it wasn’t a fit culturally. I left a gig after 9 months because the CEO was a nut case...and no one has ever said anything about it
