…definitely not
I saw a mid writer do this with a Super Bowl spot. Now they are a CD at Orchard. So it seems to work!
likewise I've carried projects for years and had CDs that barely touched them put the work in their books... now that I'm managing I'm very careful not to share work I didn't work on heavily.
Hard no. Just because you put a bit of frosting on the cake, doesn’t make you a baker
That’s definitely a stretch.
Absolutely not.
its kinda lame but so many people do this i’d just do it tbh. you can always clarify in a description or in an interview your specific role. there are many cco and ecd types that never see or touch anything but get credit for it all so 🤷♀️
if anything that reinforces that no matter how big or small your contribution is to the project, you should get credit. which is kinda my point. i’m only shading ECD types to punch up. if they get to do it, why can’t a junior? i’m not even saying it’s right, i’m just saying that it happens and likely has real outcomes for those creatives with recruiters
Was the campaign your idea? If it was, then sure, put it all in your book. But if it was someone else’s creative, then do not put anything but the social in your book.
Maybe im wrong but Ive done this. Added the spot for context on where the social came from and explained that my main role was within that realm while also aiding the ACD team during production.
Just make sure to be clear on your contributions.
Unless you were the TV spot AD I wouldn't. TV is such a niche media that you'd probably get called out pretty quickly ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Maybe I'm dumb for that take but thats my thought.
Just do it! Play the game. I’ve seen people do it and it’s given them the chance to actually get into top agencies to create good work.
What do you think.
Honestly thank you to everyone clearing things up for me, it didn’t feel right, which is why I asked, but I feel like I had seen others in the industry doing similar things and was confused.
If the idea behind the other work originated from your work on social media, then yes. Otherwise, no.
You’re joking right?
The only people I know who’ve done this are hacks who’ve actually been called out by their connections for it. I wouldn’t do it. If you have to ask then it’s probably not right.
