So, our FY ended Sept 30 and I'm cool with not getting a bonus bc I was like 100 hours short. Our entire dept was slow for a few months. My question is whether I should ask to be compensated for the work I originated this year. For context, my salary is $180k and I originated about $80k. I get "100% origination credit" in our billing system, but that only matters for partner pay, not associate. What's a reasonable % to ask for? I know they may just say no, but I at least want to try.

10% of the amount actually collected on work you originated seems fair.

Some firms have a policy that associates get zilch. One firm that I worked, you got 10% but only if the total billings were over 75K.

like

I believe associates at my firm take home 10% of their originations.

like

Good to know! Thanks!

like

Was the $80k collected? If so you’ll have much more leverage

My collections for stuff I originate are 100%. Only do work for reliable clients!

At my firm associates get 5% of all work they originate

10-15%
