No, that’s not how it works. You won’t be able to claim the week you received severance since it’s more than $504, the max benefit, but can claim the next week.
From what I remember, whatever week you get your severance check is a week for which you should not claim UI benefit. But this does not nullify your UI benefits/does not have affect the total balance you get. You still are entitled to that reward amount, but will simply need to skip that particular week’s claim.

It was for two weeks; 2500. I was let go on the last tuesday in May and then they prorated the Wednesday - Friday for a normal pay period amount. Then waited till the end of June to get paid $1400 that they marked dates during the last two weeks of June. Seems botched. Instead of having it end June 10th.
I’m on week 7 of filing and still haven’t received my unemployment benefits. I did get severance though for 6 weeks they don’t have you to specific in the application how many weeks your package is for. So I feel like I still should have gotten some notice of when I’ll get the benefits!!
You’re amazing!! Going to give this a try

I’m just concerned, because a rep I spoke with last week to certify called this morning about my severance and to hold off for last week (missed call) and is calling me later. Looked it up a bit more and found this. I didn’t get my check till after 30 days. https://www.labor.ny.gov/formsdocs/factsheets/pdfs/p825.pdf
The law says that severance doesn’t count against you if you receive it after 30 days. You should’ve filed your first week unemployed.
Ask for severance as a salary continuance until the end date and apply for UI after that.
That first Monday after that last penny of severance is deposited into your account is your first day of UI, no matter the amount of the severance.

So I got fked and they had me wait a whole month to receive $1400? I should have gotten paid on 15th not 30th but they decided delay.
