Sometimes I go on LinkedIn and see what former classmates and colleagues of mine are doing professionally and it makes me feel bad about myself like I haven’t achieved enough. Overall I’m proud of my work but something about that platform really gets me down. Do others experience that too or is it just me?

I avoid going on LinkedIn for a few years now. Seeing others "achieve" and I couldn't help feeling exactly what you described. Its better for me to not use it

I never check to see what my classmates may or may not be doing. If they have achieved something great I am very proud of them and consider myself lucky to have been associated with them.
Everyone accomplishes things from their wishes and needs. Some of us will have set backs from illnesses, being parents to one or more children or just working and trying to survive. Some of us will have to help with elderly parents or sisters who fall ill or whatever falls out ways.
It’s just a stop but it doesn’t have to be forever. If you want to accomplish your dream, then do it. It doesn’t matter how old you are. You are doing this for you and your self gratification. If you start working towards a new goal and be steady with it, you will accomplish it. Time goes so fast so you have to be sure of what you seek and just do it or not.

Yes. Never feel bad. You are likely where you are supposed to be.

Do yourself a favor and avoid social media unless really needed. People are never who they seem on these platforms. Your mental health will thank you.

Don't feel bad when you compare yourself to others. Everyone has different trials and opportunities. Sometimes a person's success doesn't have anything more than sheer luck. As long as you know you have done your best, you are golden.

If you’re happy why would you let others bring you down?

like

I get that. Maybe cause I’m getting old I am able to just be happy and not care about “the jones”
Considering where I came from (which most people will never know anything about) Im happy to be alive with a roof over my head, a good job, and food on the table. I wish you lots of peace and happiness in your future.

That is for sure normal. Social media, on any platform, has many good qualities, but also many negative ones. Comparison is the thief of joy.

I feel you. Try to avoid going on it.

As a “seasoned” individual in my seventh decade, I believe that King Solomon was on to something… a season for all things… the smallest to the greatest.. stay open and optimistic in every moment of your life… grateful for it all.. I have learned much through loss and as long as we have breath we have knowledge to pass on… tomorrow will bring us new opportunities… new friends and a new perspective.. perhaps a new job?

I believe you have low self esteem, I would recommend you try to refrain from comparing yourself to others. You have a different path in life with different plans, etc. Reach out to a therapist to help you process your feelings.
