Right. Because a yearly vaccine vs. lifetime maintenance meds that need consistent check-ins, re-fills and monitoring are the same thing.
I don’t care what side you are on, people have got to start demanding more nuance and context for these types of blanket statements before the outrage.
Americans aren't paying for all the R&D, Americans are paying for excessive profit margins. Those some drugs are still being sold at a profit in other countries meaning the R&D costs are recouped. However, those other countries aren't allowing their citizens to get fleeced on demand inelastic drugs.

In this instance almost getting it right was a complete accident by someone who is too stupid to recognize the point she’s actually making.
Or maybe, she’s saying the vaccine is “free” for other reasons than saving lives. As in if you think politicians care about saving lives, you may have been tricked.
Free is a colloquial term for many things paid for by the government. For example, public schools, driving on highways, reading in the library, etc.

Because not getting the covid vaccine MIGHT kill you, but you not getting it is probably just as likely if not more to kill someone else you spread it to.
Insulin and inhalers on the other hand? If you have asthma or diabetes, we don't need to inctivising it by making it free because discomfort and/or death is guaranteed if skip that one.
This kind of makes sense in an effed up way.
