I'm sorry to hear that. It seems that everyone is slowly heading in this direction. I don't understand what the point is in making people come back to the offices when the cost of living is so much higher and they certainly aren't adjusting salaries for the rate of inflation.
I was hired permanently remote but the ones who weren’t have had to RTO at my company. I’m being told that will not be required in my case but it’s still annoying to think they can change their mind some time in the future. I think the pandemic taught us there are many jobs that can be done remotely so I wonder why companies can’t embrace a new work dynamic and allow people in those roles that flexibility. I’ve heard several reasons like cities giving companies tax breaks for RTO, companies preferring to see their employees quit rather than lay them off and pay severances etc. It all just comes down to corporate greed again. We had a short win for workers in the early 2020s and it seems like the shift is back to long commutes, no flexibility and miserable office environments again. For those that say: “This is how it’s always been done”, is it wrong to look for ways to improve work environments wherever possible?
Hearst has gone this way, I am planning my exit next 1-2 weeks.
And Mondays will be mandatory. Nice.
I wonder how strict they will be about it my agency is RTO we just started but it’s SUPER flex. We only need to be here for an hour if we want we can leave and get here when we want it’s not the WORST thing in the world but I was upset when I found out hahah but it’s gotten better since we make our own schedule
Which agency?
Lots of companies are going back into office so get used to it. WFH full time was short lived, unfortunately. At least you’ve got the hybrid option.
