I say go. My kiddos are bigger now, but I think you’ll savor the memories of the big trip more than the hassle to deal with it. That’s been my experience, anyway. It doesn’t sound like anything a trip to CVS/pharmacy wouldn’t help with if he gets rough.
I mean once you’re there - if he does have GI issues and his teeth are bothering him, you can pop into a pharmacy and get some standard remedies. (I stand by Orajel for teeth, I just wish the dang packaging wasn’t so small.) When you’re on the road, have changes of clothes (for both of you), diapers, wipes, bottles. Maybe some cold teething rings in a small cooler. At this age he will probably sleep for half the trip even if he’s not feeling well.
It depends how much sleep you get and how much you like your family lol
If you are doing a hell travel day but sleep through the night AND you enjoy being with your family, then it’s probably worth it. If you’re not sleeping and having to travel with a fussy baby AND walking into family drama, I’d say skip. Signs of teething are drooling, red cheeks, bringing everything into their mouth, and sometimes very low fever. If that’s the case, bring teethers (bonus points if they’re the freezer kind) and children’s Tylenol or Motrin.
We went 5 hours with my daughter at 4 months. Drive there was tough but I’m glad I did it. Otherwise I think I would have been a bit afraid to ever travel with her. We’ve now done 3 big road trips and two flight trips with her at 18 months
Thanks all - we are gonna do it eeeek!!! Wish me luck! 🙏🙏🙏
This isn’t coming from experience, but we’re planning to drive from NYC to KC for Christmas with our (by that time) 3mo old - we’re going to split it into 3 days. I heard frequent stops help make sure they are fed and dry, plus it gives them some moments for contact and cuddles. I’d just say, don’t rush it if you don’t have to. Let your family help out once you’re there. Enjoy the memories (as long as whenever you’re with family is usually a positive experience 💛)
