The Grant or the Westin
Grant. Best hotel for point redemption in SD. Or go up the coast to Carlsbad Sheraton at Legoland if you have small kids.
The Grant is very nice - highly recommended
The grant. Just booked it for a project
US Grant. 100%
Yep grant. Just stayed there last week. My recommendation... write into them to say take one family vacation a year and have always wanted to come see San Diego and show your kids the beach. You have heard great things about the hotel and are very excited to come check it out and would love it if they could give you a nice room to enjoy with your family if available. Assuming you are platinum...they will take care of you. I wrote them to say I was en route for a milestone birthday for a family member (which was true) and they gave me a killer sweet. When I checked in, the concierge said we were waiting on you. We wanted to make your stay extra special so we reserved you an amazing suite. Good luck :)
If you can’t get the Grant or would rather be closer to La Jolla, the Sheraton out there is fantastic.
Thanks guys/gals. The Grant is not available for the dates I'm planning to travel. The Westin is and so are the Sheratons adn four points.
Don’t do the Four Points. They have thin walls and are the bottom rung of SPG. I still personally recommend the La Jolla Sheraton (it’s almost like a resort—like 8 buildings and a pool surrounded by trees in the middle). Otherwise the Westin Gaslamp isn’t bad either, Horton Plaza is right outside, I just think La Jolla is more of a vacation-y spot than downtown SD
