I was in the same boat then realized that you are disposable at your current job or any job.... Do what feels right for you... In this world you can't attach yourself to one firm or people.... They will abandon you when it works for them...
I try to look at it from that angle and I totally agree with you. my emotional side feels not ready to leave my firm yet and that's been the hardest thing to overcome.
I never felt strongly about leaving but this seems like a good opportunity
A Full Time Equivalent role ?
ah, I understand your initial question. Full Time Employee. just being a regular employee, not contractor, consultant, etc.
Run, don’t walk to the new job.
I’m literally in the exact same boat and have no idea what to do. Thanks for posting! Look forward to hearing what others say.
it's not a bad but a tough spot to be in
... I really like my current company and leadership. not sure how to weigh the options or make a logical decision.
would love to hear from people who have made this decision and how to best handle client/firm conversations if I chose to pursue
(I've been in consulting <2 years if it matters)
What if the work isn’t fulfilling? Will you be happy?
I'm already doing the work for it so I know what I have coming. it's not fulfilling or unfulfilling but neither is being a consultant 😅
I left on great terms, it’s great and I love my job, old firm appreciates what I brought even more (I’m a buyer that has interesting work now, ha!) and I can boomerang 2 levels senior easily if I ever needed or wanted to. Do it.
Also, I was in consulting <2 years as well. Opportunity knocks you don’t pass it up.
I left an FTE role, horrible micro managing and duties sucked, didn’t like the culture, and people were fake. Grass is not always greener on the other side. Ask if the opportunity will be available in a year and keep in touch with them if yuh aren’t ready to leave consulting.
