Tax season is almost here - if I have no major investments / real estate etc, but I have 5 state returns I need to file, should I do turbotax (deluxe/prem) or consult a CPA?

I would just use TurboTax premium or deluxe tbh! You can definitely fit them all there

Also I’m so sorry you have to do that lol luckily all my engagements were in Texas this year 😂

I used a CPA for the first time last year. Was super worth it. Will be doing again.

My wife and I paid ~$1500. I think they saved more than that, but I would have paid it for the sheer stress. Married but living in different states last year, dealing with equity from her startup acquisition on top of my stupid multi-states filing stuff...just providing the info and the firm handling it was wonderful.

I also moved states in july... so another layer of complexity

Does EY offer some reimbursement and tax prep program? Deloitte does since we all travel all the time and makes taxes complex.

We get tax prep software covered, including fees for extra states.

I usually have tax returns in three to four states (otherwise pretty straightforward), and used TurboTax. Takes me about an hour.

9 states, 4 properties, and I do my taxes myself. Not looking forward to it 😅😓

But if you don’t have anything major, doing your own return isn’t tough at all, even with a couple states on there.

I saved sooo much time this year with a CPA. Took me less than an hour to gather all my documents. And less than 40 mins to talk and meet with her.

I get tax brackets but in the UK making 30K you pay ~£6K tax and when you make around 5x more at £150k you pay 10x more tax ~£60k. What things can you do to lower your tax in consulting? (I’m not at 150 yet but most of us will get there hopefully if we stay in this role)

Sanity check. I like a nice lifestyle. Currently make 350-550k with bonus. 53 years old. About 400k in brokerage. Another 1.9million in retirement accounts. House worth 1.2 million with loan of 625k. For retirement pension will be $2400 per mo which goes to my wife if I die for life. Another 3800k Per month estimated from Social Security. I plan on working another 10 years or so maybe less once the kids graduate college. I am this will be out in 2024. What should I be doing or thinking about?

FL peoples: I signed a lease for a new place to start May 1 as my current landlord sold the unit I'm in. Turns out, the buyer wants to keep renting the unit and asked if I want to stay. Of course I want to stay. My new lease hasn't started so I'm pretty sure I can easily back out. For the new lease, I'm still pending full approval from a condo association as I have to do an in person interview. I have paid first months rent in advance. Is there anyway to get that money back?

I am 34 yo, i graduated with 95k in student loans, i currently have 85k left and i make 85k in come. I’m also a single mom with two kids. Just praying for 100% student loans forgiveness.
