I feel that to increase the number of direct tax payers in India, direct tax payers should have some extra benefits like unemployment allowances, education redemption, no toll taxes, priority ticketing and extra privileges so that who all are hiding will come forward to pay direct taxes.
We salaried people are the easy target. Govt should at least pass on some benifits to honest income tax payers.
If people with business or with other means of income (small, medium or large) pays the taxes honestly, the overall burdon to the salaried people would have reduced. But unfortunately this doesn't happen.

India is still a developing country. Think about poor people who benefit from Government schemes (ration, gas subsidy, pension etc.).
How does the government get money for all these?
Don't be greedy.

Republic TV and Zee News 😂😂 India se darr gya Russia US and China 🤣
Very genuine point. No accountability for the lakhs of taxes we are paying every year and on top of that we pay taxes in each items we purchase. What we get in return?? Nothing
Chief
Someone pointed we are getting security in return 🤣🤣🤣

Paying 4L IT. Agree with you, there is no return. Most countries offer free healthcare and schools for 30% tax. Let's not even talk about air quality and average 10 years inflation here. Although I get 5k subsidy on my electricity bills annually after paying 4 lacs as tax and people call it freebie. Even paytm pays more cashback on 4L transaction.

You get security. See ukarine they lost their families and everything. India have world's one of biggest army.
@Oracle no point in arguing with people who pay 0 to minimal tax.
Same boat as you, the system is meant to milk us and keep us as pressured as possible.
Heard a similar "In logo ko zyada tax Dena chahiye" from a khokha guy. I politely asked him how much do you pay in tax and ofcourse you know the answer.
I guess people criticise on this post are people who are not paying the tax that is the sad reality.
Same people will complain like this when they will start paying tax.
You are paying tax for Amrit kaal 🤣🤣
We Tax payers are the true minority in the country. Appeasing to us yields far less than the rest of the population to politicians. We wouldn't even make a dent to the vote bank collectively. So why would the politicians care about us or even about increasing the number of tax payers!? Imagine being a non-tax payer who gets freebies from political parties. Would you care about the taxed class of people? Virtuous people are rare anyway. That's why this state of the country.
On top of this, business owners find loopholes in the tax system to exploit. I wonder why we don't have more tax exemptions like business owners do. Every expense they make can be counted as business expense. But we have to spend our taxed money to pay more tax in the form of gst, entertainment tax etc. Why cant we claim our electricity, water bills for exemption since we are WFH since 2 years now? But we wouldn't get any such benefit and we have no way to "hide" our income.
I know it sounds off topic but, the root of most problems in our country is the marriage of politics and religion and till the day indian politics is separated from religion, i dont see any positive change happening in the country. If not this, i doubt if there is any other good way to break this vicious cycle.

How much i need to earn annually to pay taxes of 1 lakh per month? Any idea?
U will be start paying tax when ur CTC is more than 13 to 14 LPA.
This same government can't control the inflation. And because of this cost of living also increases.
There should be a suggestion box where we can suggest to reduce the TAX brackets because this current schemes are not changed in last couple of years but inflation are increases day by day.......
Above is the sad reality. And this reality will be not understand by the sanghis....
ye sale petrol 8 rs kam karke ro rhe hai govt will bear the loss.. and expecting they would give back a penny is joke on us. 1.5% logo ke tax se puri army aur sare highway bana deti hai hamari sarkar 👏☺ Bas Adani ki jeb bhari jaa rhi hai aur kuch nahi horha. Baki middle class mare jie ghanta farak padega. We r only their source of income, our votes, or majority, minority, our basics do not matter for this country. Farmers ki income tax free karke bethe hai.. samne se msp, subsidy, falani yojana sab aur dete hai. Isse better hai import karke market mai bechde ye ration.. No point investing in this country any more, niklo yaha se mauka mile tab. Nahi toh ani wali generations galiya degi wo alag
No one is afraid to pay taxes. The problem is we are paying double taxes. First direct and then indirect. Govt. should atleast give some relief to taxpayers as per their bracket. They can give some discounts or preferences for their children to govt. schools or health insurance etc. Its not good to keep your high earning cows unhappy.

Exactly, and above all u have to pay bribe to govt. officers separately to get anything done
