That awkward role-reversal when you are chasing the MD for comments because you want to send it out to client on time

Hello LTItes, i joined LTI a month back.
I attended a client interview last week and was selected for the same. Now they are asking to join within a day or two. I'm having my mom's surgery this week. How to safely refuse to join this client project for at least 10 days. I can't take leave for 10 days.
Can anyone please help me with this? I'm confused and scared.
