The busy season is finally over, thank goodness! I was feeling relieved, but that relief lasted about five minutes here at my mid-size firm. The CEO just gave us a heads-up that things are looking rough economically, and it sounds like we need to brace for some potentially big layoffs. He was pretty direct about it, not just hinting around. Are any of you hearing similar news or feeling this kind of tension at your firms right now?

I’m feeling the same tension. I’m at a regional firm, and we got through busy season just to be told we’re "entering a cost containment phase." That’s the new favorite phrase around here, I guess. No official word on layoffs yet, but partners are being unusually quiet, and a few managers have already left voluntarily. It’s hard not to read between the lines.

I heard that since April business is down at work. I won’t say more about my work Except I work in corporate. Im sure that many or most American companies are not buying or spending money until we get more clarity on tariffs. Even if companies that have a bunch of cash sitting , they will layoff if the tariffs continue and revenue/profits go down.

Not so far, but I’ve heard some consulting lines at other firms have been talking about lower activity.

This talk hasn't started here just yet, though I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it did. There's a lot of uncertainty in the air right now. I'm going to take some time this week to update my resume just in case.

If I get laid off, I have a previous colleague that started a cybersecurity company. I would love to get involved on the business side of it.
