It seems pretty great to me!
I like to welcome talented, friendly people to our country. I love immigrants. I reject nationalism and anti-immigration policy. Especially through legal pathways.
Because H1B allows that
When I graduated from college, I started at Deloitte in a starting class of over 500 people at a starting wage in 2005, of $55K with a $6k signing bonus. Hires in San Francisco, LA, and NYC all had higher wages.
This was also the case for Accenture, IBM, and other large firms hiring large starting classes out of American universities. Certainly the current economy has reduced hiring class sizes and delayed start dates, but at this point, especially looking at Canada, given unemployment and layoffs, it doesn't appear that we need so many more H1-B hires.
It was a JOKE that I started my consulting career alongside H1Bs in the same entry level roles. It was a program being abused plain and simple. H1Bs were largely average entry or managerial level folks who bring a net negative to the country considering there are comparable Americans who can fill those roles.
What a silly argument, the beauty of the big 4 is that we have a firm that’s a separate legal entity in every major country, these Indians should work for the big 4 in India 😂
This is the consulting bowl. As many here are aware, our jobs are not very important for society. The H1B crazy fee will be devastating for far more important fields, like the medical one. Ready to pay $4000 / month health insurance for way worse service in hospitals, after lack of residents triples their salaries and doubles wait times in hospitals?
Residency spots and salaries are run by the government not universities
Dur… dur… dur….
