On LinkedIn I can call myself a cpa even tho I'm not one

like

It’s also illegal, which if you had to do the paper work to be a cpa you would know lol

like

What is this issue?

On linkedin you state what states you are licensed in. So why is this a problem?

You mean PwC is restricting you from posting it on LinkedIn?

You can literally input your state and license number if someone is that concerned but which state body you’re licensed under.

Do people put their CPA on linked in behind adding “CPA” to their name…?

Yes, there's a licenses and certificates section specifically for your professional licenses (CPA).

I haven't heard of this before? Is LinkedIn restricting you or PwC? I don't feel like I've ever been restricted from anything I want to put on LinkedIn, I'm not even sure how that would work

i love how this thread is 16 hours old and still only consists of people variously asking or guessing at wtf OP meant. come back and clarify already dude!

Are private companies easier to work at than public companies in accounting? We have such an accelerated close deadline at the publicly traded company I’m at now, I really hate the inflexible tight deadlines and analysis seems to drag on forever after that. We also close AP/AR very early in the month yet that doesn’t stop payments/receipts from happening so we’re constantly adjusting our accruals until the end of month. Do private companies start their close after the month actually ends?

I am a Staff II in tax and am looking to go into consulting or finance. I have experience in finance and like the idea of switching. I like where I work, but have realized that I don't necessarily enjoy tax. I want to keep my options open and feel that tax doesn't necessarily give me the capacity to explore opportunities besides tax due to the fact that is it such specialized knowledge. Does anyone have any stories/ideas about moving to consulting or finance? Or is one preferred over the other?
