Outsourcing is destroying the job market for job seekers.
It’s like a wasteland!
I see things out there, but like you said, nothing really good let alone worthwhile for me to make a move. It is concerning for me to not have a lot of options, one of the biggest reasons I went into this was for the security and it’s not there like it used to be.
I've contracted with a couple global corporations. Most staff level jobs are being shipped to India.
This is a horrible time of year to look for a job companies are in year end financial statement mode , budgets for the year have been approved back in Nov / Dec . Public is in full on busy season for tax and audit and won’t be hiring until after the filing deadlines. Start looking in late spring / early summer
Ok noted. I’m not really looking but my casual “looking” to scope out the market from like August to now has lead me to believe the job market is horrible.
Just dance at your desk and call it a day!
Work is overrated, soul sucking, and pointless. Stay home and enjoy life!
I’m in a more niche area of accounting and have been seriously looking for a new role the last year and it’s been very hard. I got hired in my current role at the beginning of the pandemic and back then my interviews felt pretty easy. Hiring managers seemed really relieved and excited in interviews when they realized I had any amount of skill set overlap for the role along with good soft skills.
My experiences this last year have been very different. Most jobs I’ve applied for have at least dozens of applicants within the first 24 hrs and not much of a pay raise. But the biggest difference is that recruiters and hiring managers now have noticeably skeptical attitudes when going through my resume with me in interviews. They don’t seem rushed and seem to just be looking for the perfect fit.
You say you are at very niche area of accounting. Based on this logic, it’s not easy to find a candidate like you, right? That’s why the hiring managers will be relieved and excited to see a candidate like you who have lots of skills set they want.
Absolutely the same here been looking since September but things are pretty bleak out there
Stay where you are. I had a manager with an onset of dementia scapegoat me and I haven't had luck since June of last year despite my accomplishments and 16 yrs of FPA experience. I'm now ubering and trying to start a event venue business.
The job market has peaks and valleys, it is pretty bad right now. If yiu sre comfortable where you are, then wait it out. Pour your efforts into yiur current role and get some strong experience and skills.
It kinda sucks out here. I decided to just enjoy the soft life for now. Travel do the things I couldn't do as a Fund Accountant for years!!!!!
